Welcome to my furry, buttercream-y world!

  Hello Everyone! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Nicole “Niki” Shepherd. I am 30 29 years old. I have a serious love affair with baking you guys. I effin’ LOVE to bake! I’m also as sarcastic and ornery as they come.

Besides baking, the other loves of my life are my fiance Brett, my fur babies, photography, gardening, cake decorating and traveling. I’m in love with my Canon DSLR, so I love to put that bad boy to use whenever I can.

I come from a large family, and our gatherings have always been focused on the food. Big flavor; big taste, and even bigger portions. My savory recipes are usually southern or latin inspired, as I am half Mexican but was born in Arkansas, what the hell is with that? I dunno either. But prepare yourself for some rather delicious recipes I’ve come to love, and want to share. Most of my recipes will be on the sweet side, simply because, well…. I love to bake. I’m assuming most of you have a sweet tooth as well, that’s how you ended up here right? Holla!

I’m also a cake decorator-in-training, and thoroughly enjoying it. I’d say I’m decent at it, but I work really hard at becoming better each day. Even though I love baking, my #1 passion has got to be my fur babies. I’ve had fur babies around me since I was born. They’re my everything, besides Brett of course 😉

We have 5 dogs total, “Paco” the Chihuahua/Fox Terrier (12), “K.T.” the Chihuahua (11), “Simone” the Yorkie (3), “Greta” the Boxer (9 months) and “Rebel” the baby Yorkie who will be 12 weeks old on 10/19/13.

To give you a peek into my world, here are my babies and their cute little faces that I just wanna smush! Oh and in my defense, Greta the Boxer wasn’t planned, I swear. She showed up on our doorstep about a month ago, emaciated and in dire need of help. So who kept her? We did. Also, Paco was inherited after my Dad passed away, and sadly Ms. Simone was also inherited after Brett’s Dad passed away. We were more than glad to take them of course, but I’m just sayin’ these fur babies find ME! 😉

And last but NOT least…REBEL! I searched for two years before getting this dude. I was waiting until I found an absolutely perfect baby Yorkie! But he’s an asshole. Totally selfish and loud, but we still love him 😉
